Chris Hemsworth’s best hairstyles. Few men in the world have locks good enough to be taken seriously as godlike, and Chris Hemsworth has had to keep up that reputation for the better part of a decade since he played a real Norse god.
The main actor from Australia is lucky that his character, Thor, has changed his hair in the same way that he has. In the first movie in the series, he wore his hair down to his shoulders. In the third movie, Thor: Ragnarok, he had a shorter, messier cut that was more realistic.
Many guys go through this hair phase in their 20s and 30s, when they have a lot of hair and are still young enough to pull off most styles.
Here, we take a look at Chris Hemsworth’s best hairstyles over the years. We asked top hairdresser Bradley Smith, the creative head at Bradley Smith Hair, how you can get those looks yourself. It’s not like you have a godly body, but your hair is much easier to care for.
SUPERHERO SWEEP
One problem with switching between short and long hair is that the middle length will always get too long. To keep it under control, keep going to the barber for trims and use the right products at home.
Smith says, “Allow about 4 inches on top so that the hair can be pushed over on the sides and swept over with the fringe on top.” “Ask for a scissor cut to make your hair look more natural and soft.” Leave enough hair in the front so that you can style it. If you leave too much length, it will be hard to style.
“When you get home, use a hair tonic on towel-dried hair and work it through, focusing on the roots. This will keep your hair moist and give it a natural hold all day.” For some hold, use a light shine pomade. The natural look will be kept with a light shine, making the hair look healthy.
THE ADDED-UP MESS
This messy short-back and sides style is a standard that will always stay in style. It looks good on most hair types and face shapes but is best on round faces because it draws attention away from them. It may also work better if your hair is lighter. Thick hair needs more care to keep it from getting heavy and making it easy to stick up when you style it.
“Ask for scissors to cut over a comb on the sides and back, leaving less than half an inch.” Then, you want to make your hair look messy by cutting it into points on top to give it shape while letting it move naturally. Add a little sea salt spray to style your hair and work it in from the roots up to give it more volume and hold. Blow dry your hair on low heat, and then use your hands to make it into the basic shape of the style.
“Once you have a rough idea of the style, put about a quarter-sized amount of matte paste in your palms and heat it up before running it through your hair.”
CACHED IN THE MIDDLE
Hemsworth’s megawatt mug, especially those cheekbones, looks even better with this slightly longer, medium-length haircut that moves a bit further along and down from his last cut. It also makes his forehead look smaller.
Smith says, “Ask your barber for a layered cut with about 10 inches for the back.” “A layered cut will give the whole thing movement and texture.” This style puts a lot of focus on the back, and the way the sides fall over the ears makes it almost look like a mullet. Finish with a point cut, making the finish textured and removing weight from too heavy areas.
Too much washing will dry out hair this long. Natural oils are great for keeping hair healthy, but you should also condition it at least once a week to keep it soft and healthy. Smith says, “Use a light pomade to give your hair some shine.” “Sea salt spray can make hair feel naturally curly.”
COULD YOU NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR LONG HAIR
You don’t have to be from Asgard to wear long hair these days, thanks to the return of grunge and ’90s style and a welcome relaxation of dress rules at work. However, as your hair grows out, it can be painful. To make it easier, Smith says to see your hairdresser every six weeks, even if it’s just to lose weight and cut off the split ends.
“I also think that wavy hair looks best with this shoulder-length cut because you can use the natural curve of the wave to your styling benefit. To style your hair that way, use a few sprays of sea salt spray to bring out its natural movement and give it body and volume while keeping a natural look.
To finish, you should add a pomade. This will give your hair a little shine and make it look refreshed.”
GET READY
Men’s ponytails have been a popular hairstyle since the second half of the 1600s. Back then, a silk band was used to tie these hairy parts together. We think that’s a bit too much, especially since you can use your partner’s hair tie, as Hemsworth did, and tie the tailback for a clean, low-man bun.
Smith says that if you want to tie your hair up like that, it must be shoulder-length or 14 inches long. “But I don’t think you should use elastic bands,” he says. “These are going to break. Get yourself some hair bands.
Also, be more careful when you get out of the shower. “Slick back hair that’s been dried with a towel because it’s easier to style than dry hair.” Push back from your forehead to your top with your fingers. Then, tie the knot about two inches above the nape of the neck. You can change this if it feels awkward.
THE BEARD OF ODIN
Okay, it’s not as long as Odin’s, but the same short, messy cut as before has some facial hair added to make it a little rougher. Smith says that for your beard to look like Chris Hemsworth’s, you should trim it every two to three days with a five-point guard on your beard clipper.
“Use the two-finger method to trim the neckline. Place your first two fingers on top of your Adam’s apple and use the tip of your index finger as a guide.” Could you get rid of everything below it? Making a “U” shape, connect the place above your fingers to the backs of your ears.
